HR Confluence on
‘Managing Talent for Competitive Advantage: From Identifying and Acquiring Talent to its Retention’

IIM Raipur is organizing its 1st HR Confluence on August 25, 2012 at its campus.

The event aims at bringing the ‘practitioner’s perspective’ in area of great relevance to HR Practice- ‘Talent Management’.

Consequently, the theme selected is ‘Managing Talent for Competitive Advantage: From Identifying and Acquiring Talent to its Retention’. Always a precarious yet vital matter for any HR Practitioner, the event looks forward to unfold some of the best practices in this area with deliberations of stalwarts, from both the industry and academia.

The discussions would conduit around the prevalence and handling of this challenge as an essential element in the successful and skillful handling of human resources in any organization. The deliberations would revolve around some of the major topics like: How to best recognize, hire, develop and retain talent? What do employees expect of their employers? What should be an organization’s employee value proposition? How to develop human talent? Why does talent leave it’s companies? How to utilize the skills of employees even after they are gone ?

A proverbial melting pot, the confluence would serve as alearning ground for all its participants who will have an opportunity to hear as well as share their opinions, issues in HR Practice with the very experienced HR Panel Speakers and Academicians.

The HR Summit has three panels namely Talent Spotting, Talent Retention and Talent Development. The deliberations will revolve around these themes :

 
1. Talent spotting. This would involve, besides other topics, a discussion on:
  • How good are we in spotting talent ?

  • What should be the strategies to improve employee recruitment ?

2. Talent Retention. This would involve, besides other topics, a discussion on:
  • How can we engage and retain talent especially with the volatile economy and the young, energetic and demandingGen Y workforce?

  • What is it that employees today are looking for in their employers ?

3. Talent Development. This would involve, besides other topics, a discussion on:
  • How can talent once acquired and retained be trained and developed further ?

  • How can organizations help its employees in developing their careers; thus becoming a partner to employee development ?
